Law for Leaseholder Landlords – a video course

April 25, 2019

Robert Brown

In October 2018 we ran and filmed a workshop with housing barrister Robert Brown.

The workshop was called the ‘Leaseholder Landlord’ and looked at the special legal issues that arise when a landlord is him (or her) self a tenant under a long lease.

This brings up specific issues:

  • What is the status of the tenancy if the landlords lease prohibits subletting?
  • What is the situation where repairs which are not done impact on the tenant – but are the freeholders responsibility, not the landlords?
  •  What is the situation regarding service charges and ground rent?

The workshop was recorded and placed on our Moodle training site where it was sold as an online course.  It is still there and will remain there until the Moodle site is closed down in November.  So if you bought that course you can view it there.

However, the course has now also been copied over to this site and is available to Business Level members as part of their membership.

If you are a logged in Business Level member you will find it here.

I copy below a short video filmed by Robert immediately after the workshop where he talks a bit about the course content and why it is important.
