Meter Reading Notification Forms

April 24, 2019

Electric MeterWhen renting to tenants its best to avoid any disputes and having a clear record of the meter readings at the start and end of the tenancy is a good idea.

  • If the tenants are paying the bills – then it makes it clear what they are responsible for and what they are not
  • If the rent is inclusive of the bills then it may also be useful to see exactly how much (for example) electricity has been used since the tenancy began.

To help we have two forms you can use to keep a record of the meter readings

  • One to use at the start of the tenancy and
  • One to use at the end.

At present, they record gas, electricity and water meter readings, but if there is another you think we should add let me know.

The form is ‘conditional’ so if your property (for example) has no gas, you can exclude this.

Logged in Landlord Law members will find the forms here.
