This has information about the different types of occupation and tenancy types that exist.  There is also some general information about tenancies.  If you are not familiar with landlord and tenant law and how tenancies ‘work’ this is a good place to start.

This is an information section for landlords (although no doubt agents will find it very useful) with guidance on regulations about letting agents, how to find a good letting agent and what to do if you are unhappy with your agent’s service.

Few properties nowadays are rented by one person to live in alone.  Most are shared with family or other tenants.  Sometimes they will sign the same tenancy agreement, sometimes they will sign individual agreements for their own room.  This section also has a lot of information about Houses in Multiple Occupation or HMOs.

If you take a tenancy deposit you need to deal with it properly or you can’t use section 21 to evict your tenant and your tenant can claim a penalty through the Courts. This section has guidance on what you need to do and what to do if you make a mistake.
